the brand
mrcarterco is a budapest based contemporary accessories brand established in 2017. since its foundation mrcarterco has been quietly building a loyal following in central europe. the core design aesthetics is manifested through clean simple forms, impeccable details and meticulous material choices. our collections explore refined minimalistic approach to design while functionality remains in our focus.
the pieces are made for always, not just the current season by focusing on a carefully selected concept and a perfectly crafted construction. armed with a bold maker’s vision and a passion for the sculptural capacities of leather akos’s long-term goal with mrcarterco, to become a lifestyle brand whose customers can identify themselves with the brand’s persona and values.our bags are locally crafted in our buda based workshop, providing an opportunity to create a unique and personal item. due to it's proximity we can create our bags as carbon neutral as we can by using the capitol’s public transport.
our workshop is a third-generation family business where besides us other hungarian and international brands are producing their leather accessories. unlike others the production is closely monitored by our designer akos who helps constantly with the production.
we believe being proud of our products includes being proud of the conditions in which they are made. that is why we built transparency into identity to not just show our work but our workspace and our persona too.
the designer
as an intern akos has already seen the life of several central european brands during his bachelor and masters studies in budapest later in paris, these experiences are currently helping and influencing him with his own vision at mrcarterco.
his bachelors degree as an industrial design engineer and later his masters degree in fashion and textile design helped him to create collections where functionality and aesthetics live in symbiosis within the pieces. his dedication to finding new perspectives and original forms began at a young age, when as a child he would draw and create dresses and accessories for his sister, later he would construct dresses for his mother whos fashion sense always inspired akos.
'the first fashion related thing that I remember, was my mom watching sonia rykiel's fashion show, which she later made for herself. this was the central european reality in the 90s-00s.'
An important part of Ákos’ design philosophy is the know-how of leather craftsmanship, respect and appreciation of the crafts.
